Producer-director-Actor Raghava Lawrence has accused the management of the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam Corporation (TTDC) of ill-treating his mother, wife and child when he went to the holy Tirumala hills for a darshan of the Lord Venkateswara.
Lawrence had been to Tirumala hills on the night of Sunday (31st March) for darshan of the Lord. He went through the Grade-2 VIP queue and was at the sanctorum at 06:30 on the morning of 1st April. It is said that the volunteers reportedly hastened Lawrence’s mother, wife and child which prompted an angry Lawrence to enter into altercation with them.
After emerging from the temple, Lawrence spoke to newsmen. He said “My mother recently underwent surgery. I had a vow to visit the Lord after the successful completion of surgery and came here with my entire family. Even as we were worshipping, one of the workers pushed my mother and she fell to the floor. This is not only
a disrespectful act but a barbaric one. I felt insulted and argued with the workers.
“While Lankan president Rajapakse, who indulged in genocide of Tamils, is given a red-carpet income, the authorities are ill-treating a Tamil actor’s family. It’s is unpardonable thing and I expect the TTDC management to take action against the erring officials.” Reacting to Lawrence’s allegations, a TTDC official said that Lawrence was treated like a VIP and it was wrong on his part to go to the press leveling allegations against us.
