Goundamani to make a comeback in Vetrimaran’s film

Goundamani, widely considered by many as the best-ever comedian to have descended on the Tamil film industry in the past several decades, is all set for a comeback in Tamil films. The 70-plus comedian has been on a self-imposed hiatus in films for the past few years.

Only recently did he sign up to play a doctor in a film titled Vaaimai. Vetrimaran, the national award-winning director who is a great fan of Goundamani, has reportedly convinced Goundamani to star in the lead role whose script was narrated to him recently.

The Goundamani-Senthil duo has starred in hundreds of films while Goundamani himself has starred in more than 750 films during the past three decades. Goundamani had earlier played the lead role in 12 films and though he got many offers in recent times, he hadn’t starred in any film with Thangam being his last film.

After Vaaimai, Goundamani would play the lead role in the film by Vetrimaran (to be directed by one of his aides) who wants to ‘honour’ the ace comedian through this film. Goundamani is said to have been ‘excited’ by the script and gave his consent as soon the narration of the script was over.

Director Cheran pleads to rescue his daughter from her boyfriend

After actor-director Cheran’s younger daughter Dhamini left her home on Friday, approached the police and filed a complaint against her father of trying to intimidating her lover Chandru alias Chandrasekhar(25), a former assistant to Cheran.

Breaking his silence on his daughter’s allegations against him, the shell-shocked Cheran met the media on Saturday. He was accompanied by Nadigar Sangam president Sarath Kumar, Fefsi president Ameer, Radha Ravi and director SP Jananathan. Before meeting the press, the actor had filed a counter complaint against Chandru and sought police help to rescue his daughter.

Meanwhile, Chandru who was living hiding for over a month, was summoned by the Thousand Lights police for questioning yesterday.

The actor became emotional while defending his position against his daughter’s lover, who is not the right choice for his daughter.

Cheran said, “I am not against love, but to Chandru. In fact my marriage was love marriage. As a responsible father, I should ensure that she gets a good husband. I am not from a wealthy family and don’t believe in social status. So initially I had agreed to their relationship, but his real face was revealed only after a background check. He does not have a good moral character, and I heard a lot of bad things about him. When it’s your own daughter, and you only want the best for her, how do I let her go?

I gave her(Dhamini) all the freedom. It was she who decided to stay away from her boyfriend, citing he was behaving like a sadist. In fact, she had herself submitted a written complaint on July 10 against Chandru, accusing of harassment . She was like my friend, I don’t know who led her astray.  I don’t believe in violence, even in my films I don’t keep violent scenes, and I have never hurt Chandru.“

He concluded that he would accept the marriage, if the guy chosen by his daughter is really good. Meanwhile Cheran’s wife Selvarani, who fell ill after this incident has been admitted to the hospital.

Chandru on the other hand, stands his ground. He claimed that he had left Chennai fearing threats from Cheran and his people. He told that he was asked to come to Kodambakkam Petrol bunk by a close-aide of Cheran on the pretext of sorting out the matter, but he was instead threatened by the director, his close-aide who called him over and his henchmen.

After the Though Lights police investigated the issye, Chandru has been sent back to his home with police protection, while Dhamini was sent to a government home.

Breaking: Siva Karthikeyan and Hansika to practice Maan Karate!

It came as a pleasant surprise, when the news of Siva Karthikeyan and Hansika joining together for a project came our way. Now, sources close to the team have confirmed that the film has been titled Maan Karate (the term Maan Karate features in the Vikram starrer Gemini). Another surprise addition to the cast list is Vidyut Jamwal. He and comedian Satish, who featured in Ethir Neechal will be playing very important characters in the film, claims our source.

Director AR Murugadoss has joined Madhan of Escape Artistes Motion Pictures to produce the film on a large scale and the director himself will be working on the story and screenplay. One of his own assistants, Thirukumaran would be helming the film.

Sukumar has been roped in as the cinematographer and will start shooting from July 13th. The team will shoot at Chennai, Bangalore and Athirapally during the first schedule. Later, they will fly to Malta to shoot a couple of songs. Anirudh has been asked to compose five songs for the film.

Is Vijay in a position to cook 'Curry in Love'?

Yesterday the buzz was ripe that Ilayathalapathy Vijay might be a part of an English film by the name 'Curry in Love'. P Vasu is set to direct this film which also features a dream cast comprising the likes of Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, according to reports.

But it looks highly unlikely that Vijay would accept this project as his datebook is packed with movies such as Jilla, the future A R Murugadoss project and another tentative film for Aascar Films. This being the case, Vijay won't be in a position to take up this high profile project, one feels.

We hope to get a direct clarification from the star himself, in the coming days as the music of his Thalaivaa gets ready to release on June 21.

''Directing Vijay is beyond me'', Sundar C's candid talk

Sundar C is being speculated to work with Ajith in the near future, as the two have had initial discussions which would be made public if all things work out well. The director, fresh from the success of Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru, also talked to the press about working with the other big star of the generation, Vijay.

Vijay is known to expect a proper story narration from a director before deciding on whether to work with him or not. Sundar C feels that his chances of working with Vijay are severely handicapped as he isn't one who is good at story narration. Sundar admits that his strength is at screenplay writing.

But given the seamless nature of most of Sundar's screenplays and Vijay's inbuilt comedic sense, it won't be a surprise if Vijay decides to work with Sundar on a proper comedy entertainer, even without a proper story narration from the director. Such is his proven caliber.

P. Vasu - Ilayathalapathy Vijay for a Hollywood movie?

Veteran director P. Vasu who has tasted nation-wide success is now reportedly setting his targets on a more global scale. The director who has given number of hit films in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada is now apparently working towards his Hollywood debut. The full length English feature film is reportedly titled Curry In Love.

While P. Vasu’s move comes as a pleasant surprise, sources are suggesting that the director may be in touch with Ilayathalapathy Vijay to play the lead in the movie. Also, the word is that the director is interested in casting Sonam Kapoor as the leading lady.

A site dedicated to the project is currently live on the internet and contains the synopsis of the project. The site also lists the 'dream cast' for this film which includes the likes of Hollywood actors Nick Nolte, Jon Voight and Tina Fey along with the above mentioned Indian stars. The music department,according to the site, will be handled by a father-son duo that is Ilayaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

An official word from P. Vasu about this cast and crew is awaited.

Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru Review

In the recent years, small-budget comedy films have worked big time, and it is not surprising to see filmmakers considering the comedy genre as a safe bet. Earlier this year, we witnessed hit movies like Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya and Soodhu Kavvum. Now, we are game for yet another film Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru, a bilingual movie also made in Telugu as Something Something. Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru is directed by Sundar C, who has tasted a lot of success in comedy genre. He has teamed up with UTV Motion Pictures after his last year hit movie Kalakalappu. He has chosen Siddharth, Hansika Motwani, Santhanam and Ganesh Venkataraman to play the lead roles. Does the director has a winner in hand? Checkout in the review.... Kumar (Siddharth) and George (Ganesh Venkataram) work at a software company. Their characters are different all together. While the former is shy and awkward to talk to girls, the latter has a high ability to attract woman. Their enters a girl in their life in the form of Sanjana played by Hansika Motwani. The Boys actor instantly falls for Sanjana and wants to win her. Being an introvert, he does not have the required confidence to impress her. This paves way for love guru Mokia (Santhanam) to enter in the picture. The former seeks the help of latter in order to make her fall in love with him. And the game begins.

Thillu Mullu Review

Remaking classics will be a painful task as it rides on huge-burden of expectations from audience. Minor errors will also be noticed by people and they don't leave any opportunity to come hard on the makers of the film. So, making justice to such products and satisfying audience are the difficult parts of remaking hit movies. Now, Thillu Mullu, a blockbuster starring Rajinikanth and Madhavi, has been remade. The original version was directed by legendary K Balachander and it had established stars playing the lead roles. But the latest instalment is made by budding stars. The movie is the remake of Bollywood hit movie Golmal starring Amol Palekar. Shiva and Isha Talwar starring Thillu Mullu is directed by Badri. The director has finely tuned the script to suit the new-age audience. Has the team done justice to the original? Find it in the review... To begin with Badri, he has made sea changes in the script. So, those who think that the 2013 Thillu Mullu would be a carbon copy of superstar Rajinikanth's movie, the Shiva starrer movie would surprise. Well, the core story is the same, but the screenplay makes huge difference. Pasupathi's (Shiva) life is not going great with him losing his father's property in a legal battle. Now, he is in search of a better job to lead the normal life. He also has the responsibility of his sister's marriage. Upon hearing his uncle's advice, he decides to get a job in a leading water brand owned by Siva Gurunathan (Prakash Raj). 

 Well, Pasupathi says a series of lies to impress Siva Gurunathan, an ardent devote of Murugan, and gets a job. But soon the former lands in trouble when he will be caught by his boss at T20 match as Pasupathi takes a leave to watch the game by claiming that his mother is ill. However, he escapes from the situation by claiming that it was not him but his identical twin brother Kanthan Ganguly, who was in the stadium. Kamal Haasan may soon start his long stalled project Marudhanayagam

Although Kamal Haasan is presently busy shooting for Vishwaroopam 2, his cast and crew who have been involved with him for his long stalled project –Marudhanayagam  wait in line to get in touch with him once again.

One such case is DOP Muthukumar, who is on board for Kamal’sMarudhanayagam - featuring the likes of Ulganayagan himself alongside, Nassar and Sathyaraj. A part of this project which has been in the making since 1997, 16 years hence, Muthukumar recollects incidents which were shot at the Athirapally waterfalls in Kerala.

Remarking that the project will leave everyone spellbound , Muthu says, “There was a scene where Kamal Sir is chased by his enemies and big hounds. After running uphill, sidestepping the slippery surface of the rocks Kamal Sir pushes down a boulder twice his size down the hill !!! I stood there gazing at this man’s conviction.I am sure he will start the project soon once over with his assignments.”

Funded by Rajkamal International, this project is expected to kick start yet again once Kamal is over with Lingusamy’s project. Marudhanayagam might feature music from AR Rahman, with cinematography from Ravi K Chandran.

Surya struggled to carry Hansika in Singam 2?

It turns out that Suriya, the 1.5 ton powered superhero who is awaiting with keen interest the release of his upcoming film Singam-2, struggled a lot in ‘lifting’ Hansika off her feet for a particular sequence in the film during the film’s shoot last month. Hari has directed the film which is the sequel to Singam, the successful film made under the combination of Hari and Suriya three years back.

Anushka and Hansika have been paired up opposite Surya in the film, whose audio-launch was held in Chennai, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram recently. Hansika, the rising dream girl of Tamil Nadu does not belong to the slim-and-slender frame category, rather she falls into teh plumpy category.

For a particular sequence in the film, Surya was to lift Hansika off her feet and walk for few yards. While filming the sequence, it turns out that Suriya who bashes up the baddies with utmost ease, found it a ‘tough assignment’ to lift Hansika. By the time the final take was shot, Suriya was sweating hard, it is reported.

Vijay is my younger brother – Mohanlal

Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal who earlier teamed up with Ullaganayagan for Unnai Pol Oruvan is gearing up to team up with Ilaythalapathy Vijay for Jilla. Here are some excerpts from the Mohanlal interview which was published in a leading daily today

“I started the shoot of Jilla two weeks back in Karaikudi. Vijay joined the set in Chennai. It’s been just two days since we started shooting together; so it’s too early to share my acting experiences with him. I have known Vijay earlier. We have met each other at a few functions but never had the opportunity to interact frequently. I feel that he is my younger brother, He’s a nice and endearing human being. I respect and love him a lot because he’s so down to earth. Now I’m not surprised with the huge fan following he has not only in Tamil Nadu but in Kerala too. For me, Vijay is the boy-next-door, who has created a niche for himself in the industry. I’m sure that this project was destined to happen.”.

Anirudh is Ajith fan

It looks like the list of Ajith fans is only getting bigger. The latest join the bandwagon is none other than the Kolaveri composer Anirudh. When quizzed the Ethir Neechal composer, who his favourite actor was, the music director immediately replied ‘Ajith’.

Anirudh rose to fame with ‘Why this Kolaveri Di?’ from the film 3, which went on to become a viral sensation. The actor soon worked on his next project Ethir Neechal, which was a Dhanush production and had Sivakarthikeyan in the lead.

The young musician is now all set to begin his work on the film with Vijay and director AR Murugadoss. He also has in hand Vanakkam Chennai, whose score he is proud of.

Will Samantha make it this time for Vijay’s project

amantha has always known to be choosy of her projects, in Kollywood. However, these days  she can’t wipe that beautiful smile of her face as a golden offer beckons her!!!

Sivakarthikeyan and Hansika Motwani together

Even though Hansika Motwani has her hands full with numerous projects under her belt, she is not the one to ask her directors to wait for another time. In fact, very recently she signed up yet another biggie with none other than AR Murugadoss !!!

This bubbly belle has been ruling Kollywood in the past year as the mot preferred choice of Siddharth, Arya,Surya, Karthi and Simbu in their respective projects. Well, the latest entrant to this popular list will be none other than television turned silver screen actor – Sivakarthikeyan !

Yes, you heard it right, this will be a production from none other than AR Murgadoss in a joint association with Escape Artist Motion Pictures, wherein ARM has appointed his assistant - Thirukumaran,  as the director of this project.

As for Siva Karthikeyan who has proved his versatility with his performance in Ethir Neechal, things are only looking better with every new project. His good friend and young talent house Anirudh who received splendid response for their last outing – ( Ethir Neechal), has also been appointed as the composer for this one.

Santhanam not in Udhayanidhi’s next film?

Distributor-producer Udhayanidhi is shooting non-stop for his upcoming film Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal wherein he has been paired opposite Nayanthara, one of the top actresses in both Tamil and Telugu film. Udhaya, who debuted as hero in last year’s super-duper hit film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, is said to be taking his career as actor very seriously.

Udhaya’s next ‘target’ as heroine of his film after Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal is said to be the lanky Anushka whom he likes a lot. Udhaya reportedly sent feelers to Anushka to know whether she was ready to pair up opposite him. After informing Anushka her fee and the dates required for the shoot, Anushka has reportedly said a tentative ‘yes’ to the proposal provided she is free from her pre committed schedule by that time.

Yet another decision taken by Udhaya is somewhat shocking: he has decided not to rope in Santhanam for his next film opposite Anushka. Though it’s a well-known fact that Santhanam was the sole reason for the success of Oru Kal Oru Kannadi and Udhaya himself had said in the past that it was Santhanam who ‘balances’ the film(s), he has taken the unexpected decision not without reason.

Unit sources of Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal say on condition of anonymity that Santhanam’s busy schedule and (non-cooperative) attitude is delaying the shoot of the film which hasn’t gone down well with Udhaya who has decided that he’s had enough with Santhanam.

Adharvaa’s mother playing spoilsport in his career?

others have played prominent roles (off-the screen, though) in shaping the careers of their daughters in the film industries in all languages. Some mothers would accompany their daughters to the shooting spot, to the sets and even to outdoor locations. There are some mothers who even run the show for their daughters by deciding about the film their daughters might take up.

Some heroes have also had their fathers doubling up as their managers. In most cases, though, the fathers had only ‘demolished’ the careers of their respective sons by either demand exorbitant amount as fee to star in films or by making impractical demands about their stay along with their sons during out-door shoots.

The latest hero to be affected by the ‘intervention’ of either of the parents is our own Atharva, the talented young actor of the late Murali. Adhaarva, who debuted in films with Baana Kaathadi opposite Samantha, has since starred in a couple of films including Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal and Bala’s Paradesi besides making a ‘special appearance’ in K.V. Anand’s Ko.

Though he is billed as one of the most promising actors around, his mother is said to be controlling his career so much so that it has been becoming increasingly difficult for directors to get direct access to Adharvaa. A former aide of actor-director Cheran recently went to Adharvaa’s residence and after a brief talk, he said he was finalizing Adharvaa as the hero of the film he had in mind.

When Adharvaa said his mother would now talk about his fee and left the place, the director wasn’t amused at all. After an hour or so, Adharvaa received an SMS from the debutant director who said that he had ‘deleted’ Adharvaa’s name from his phone directory, apparently after the undue demand made by Adharvaa’s mother as fee for his son starring in the director’s film.

Vikram keen on bagging Bala’s next film?

Vikram is presently starring director Shankar’s upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual I opposite Britain’s Amy Jackson, who had starred with him in A.L. Vijay’s Thaandavam last year. Shankar, whose Nanban early last year proved to be an average hit, needs to deliver a super-duper hit to sustain his billing as the top director in Kollywood.

Even before wrapping up the shoot of I, Vikram is already on the look out for offers for his next film. Vikram, who is on the wrong side of the forties, is not being courted by film-makers in the same manner as it was the case some few years back. Reports which appeared in the press some weeks back said that Bala was considering casting Vikram in the lead in his next film.

Though appreciated by critics, Bala’s last film Paradesi fell flat at the box-office. It’s an entirely different issue that the box-office result of Paradesi would hardly have a bearing on Bala’s style of film-making. Though Vikram had been meeting Bala quite a few times in the past few weeks, Bala hasn’t reportedly confirmed that he would be roping in Vikram to essay the lead role in his untitled next film.

Unconfirmed reports say that Bala was planning to make a film starring Atharva and Sasikumar in the lead. Whether or not Vikram is aware of Bala’s plans remains uncertain but what is certain is that Vikram appears to be keen in being part of Bala’s next film. After all, didn’t Bala’s Pithamagan which released way back in 2003 help Vikram get his national award for ‘best actor’?

Ilaiyaraaja regrets for using his song in Kutti Puli without permission

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja has regretted use of his song in the recently released Kutti Puli without intimating or taking prior permission from him. Starring Sasikumar and Lakshmi Menon in lead roles, Kutti Puli hit the screens Statewide last week. Of late, the trend of using the Maestro’s songs and background score in films has been on the rise.

While some film-makers do inform the Maestro and take his permission before using his background score or songs in their films, most of them don’t. In Sasikumar’s super-hit Subramaniapuram too, Ilaiyaraaja’s Siru Ponmani Asaiyum.. song was used as it is for close to two minutes. Even Nadodigal and Sundarapandian, Sasikumar’s next two films, also featured some ‘bits’ of Ilaiyaraaja’s popular songs from yesteryears.

In Kutti Puli, director Muthaiah had made use of a full song by Ilaiyaraaja, scored by him more than three decades back in superstar Rajinikanth’s Kazhugu. The popular song with the lyrics Ponnoviyam Kandenamma… has been used in Kutti Puli besides many more of the Maestro’s songs in bits in various places in the film. Obviously, the fans loved all these ‘insertions’ thanks to Maestro’s everlasting music.

When asked to comment on the use of his song in the film, Ilaiyaraaja said “I was neither intimated nor asked for permission by the makers of Kutti Puli to use my song in their film…It would have been better had they sought prior permission from me.” There was an unmistakable tone of regret in his voice as the Maestro holds the rights of all the songs which have been scored by him.

Vijay complains of leak of Thalaivaa song on the Net

Director A.L. Vijay was at the city police commissioner’s office in Chennai yesterday complaining that a song from his upcoming film Thalaivaa had been leaked by some miscreants on the Net. He had also reportedly cited the name of a college student in his complaint as the one responsible for the ‘leakage’.

Thalaivaa stars Vijay and Amala Paul in lead roles and has been directed by Vijay. With music by G.V. Prakash Kumar, the film’s audio is to be released on the 21st of this month, a day prior to the birthday of the film’s hero. Producer Sunil Kumar accompanied Vijay to the commissioner’s office while the complaint was lodged

In his complaint, the duo has stated that “We have come to know from reliable sources that a song from Thalaivaa has been leaked on the Internet by some miscreants. We are also suspicious of the role of a student named Aravindan of Sairam College in this regard. Along with this petition, we are enclosing documentary proof in support of our suspicion. We want appropriate action to be taken on priority basis.”

Thalaivaa is scheduled to hit the screens in August with its music release slated for the third week of this month. If not anything else, the complaint about the ‘leakage’ of one song from the film might as well serve the publicity campaign of the film!

When Kuttipuli directed by newcomer Muthaiah commences with blood spewing opening shots, you might believe that this could just be a basic arc of the film because it was certified with a U/A by Censors. However, as the story unfolds, you realize that the gore violence is spread all over the 150 minutes reaching a crescendo in the climax. Again, the sanguine tonality of Kuttipuli could still be acceptable if there was a plausible justification but unfortunately it is not so.

The Sundarapandian pair of Sasikumar and Lakhsmi Menon had set up some kind of expectation based on their previous track record. However, but for giving the audience quite a few déjà vu moments of the earlier film, the pair does not render much here.

The story of Kuttipuli is very simple. It is about a mother who does not want her son to follow her husband’s footsteps but desires his settlement in matrimony like every normal man.

It is harmless if there is no storyline but it could get really destructive when there is a shortfall in treatment and presentation. Most of the time, Kuttipuli lacks any direction and drifts aimlessly. Inept screenplay, archaic storyline, pointless scenes and inconsistent characterization mark Kuttipuli. At no point in the film the director has a grip of his audience. The scenes involving Pappu and gang evoke some kind of laughs while not contributing anything to the progress of the film. There are so many foibles in the film and listing them would be pointless.

Although Sasikumar is sincere in his efforts- he even does a neat jig of Silambattam- his characterization has nothing new to offer. His character of Kuttipuli is the personification of all things Madurai. He is someone who goes livid if something happens to women from his locality; does not raise his sight towards any woman; extremely respectful of his mom; fights ferociously and even tries to emulate a suave hero. The scene where Saranya and Ramaprabha deride Shah Rukh Khan as an emaciated soul is quite amusing.

For Saranya, the role of a sacrificing mother is something that she can do in her sleep. Lakshmi Menon’s role is exactly like the one she did in Sundarapandian from her costumes to emotions to body language. Aadukalam Murugadoss in his supporting role as a friend of Sasikumar delivers his bit.

The excessive usage of old songs especially Ilayaraja’s ‘Ponnoviam Kandenamma’ appears more like a mockery than a tribute. And there are many such songs used which are annoying to say the least.

The tracks of Ghibran had created the desired effect when they were released. But the picturization has not enhanced its feel. Rest of the technical departments is just about average.

The film travels on an excessive manipulative melodrama most of the time. And if you are the type who would go gaga over mother sentiment, mindless violence, punch dialogues, Kuttipuli may work for you.

Verdict: Strictly for those who favor ‘amma’ sentiment and rural violence

Vijay and Mohanlal to be shot together

Post completing their first schedule in places like Madurai and Karaikudi, the Jilla team will carry on with their next

schedule in a huge set which has already been put up in a prominent Chennai studio. This set would resemble a typical Madurai locality and combination scenes featuring Vijay and Mohanlal would be canned in this schedule, which is expected to begin in the first week of June.

A major portion of the film would be shot in this set while the team would travel out of the city for their outdoor scenes. Vijay didn’t take part in the first schedule which saw the participation of actors such as Mohanlal and Poornima Bhagyaraj. 

Kajal Aggarwal, Thambi Ramaiah, Soori and Mahat Raghavendra also have prominent roles in Jilla.

Good times are here for Sivakarthikeyan!

With the recent release of Ethir Neechal, Sivakarthikeyan booked himself as a mass hero poised with an image of a versatile actor, continuing his success story of Pandiraj’s Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga. In his journey from a Vijay TV host to Kollywood’s red carpet, the actor has surely worked hard be recognized as a dependable actor in K town. So much so that some reports mention him basking around 2 crores with every new project he agrees upon!

Presently, the actor has to his credit some prestigious projects including a production from Gnanavelraja’s Studio Green and Lingusamy’s Tirupathy Brothers. In addition, there is his other project with Ethir Neechal director Durai Senthil Kumar’s yet again produced by Dhanush.A release of the same is expected in early summer next year concerning which its cast and crew are expected to meet in October, as the actor will be busy till then working on the first schedules of his side projects

Will Vijay agree to composer D Imman’s request

D Imman, who is the appointed composer for Illayathalapathy Vijay‘s upcoming blockbuster Jilla, has big plans for with his music. Being one of the biggest releases of recent times, for Imman it is a critical project as after having toiled in the music industry for more than a decade he is expected to dole out a perfect winner in this entertainer too.

Fans of the composer are also relentlessly prodding him to reveal further details on his upcoming projects. In one such instance, he had to let out a little surprise for his fans!

Following up on GV Prakash’s successful attempt in Thalaivaa , Imman hopes VIjay too will agree to sing a tune in Jilla. He disclosed the same on his micro blog as he wrote “ We are trying all positive moves to make Vijay sir sing for Jilla, let’s hope for the best. Jilla will be a mass album with a mix of melody and groovy numbers.”

So, do you think Vijay will agree to Imman’s request too? After all it was Vijay’s Thamizhan in 2002 that kick started the composers career in K town.Now, over with its first schedule, the Jilla unit is all set for its next schedule in a weeks time.

Lakshmi Rai at war with the print media

Seems desperation has taken its toll on Lakshmi Rai, who has not been able to making the frontline actress list despite having starred in all the South Indian languages (Tamil, Telugu, Kannad and Malayalam).

Attitude problem seems to be Rai’s impediment on her way to the top, critics feel. A few days back, she had gone on record that she was in love with an industrialist and that she would reveal his name in a few days’ time. As if it’s wrong for the print media to write about her, she has been going on a case-filing spree against some magazines including a regional weekly and a popular English daily.

Lakshmi Rai first filed a defamation suit against popular weekly Kumudam for publishing the news that she was close to a lanky hero(Vinay Rai), had  demanded  Rs 30 lakhs as compensation citing is caused ‘huge damage’ to her reputation of a ‘clean’ actress. The current status lawsuit is yet to be known, but both  the magazine and the actress did get attention in the specific case for few days.

Last week, a leading English daily published some intimate pictures of Lakshmi Rai and our Controversial  cricketer Sreesanth, exposing the links  the cricketer had with models and actress . Claiming that those photos were taken a few years back and that publishing them now has dent her reputation, Rai has filed a case against the daily for ‘selective publication’. Those photos were published by almost all dailies and why should she single out one particular magazine?

Lakshmi Rai rubbishes her linkups with Sreesanth

Well there is a reason everyone loves to call Sreesanth a ‘player’. After all, in addition to his infamous money bucketing talents, this ace bowler is also a hit among the hottest item girls in town. Just days ago Surveen Chawla, a model turned actress from Punjab, cleared all airs about their relationship in public. A similar attempt has now been made by none other than K town item bomb and model turned actress Lakshmi Rai.

The two have been in touch after, after our ‘player’ shared flight with Priyamani and Nikeesha Patel and arrived for a CCL match, to later share some light moments with Lakshmi Rai. Days later, Sreesanth also appeared to overlook the proceedings of a sizzling photo shoot featuring his new found fascination.

However, when ou reporter met Lakshmi to ask her on how bad she feels about the whole story, she quipped back, “I am not in touch with Sreesanth for long, so I don’t really want to comment on this issue.”

But why would she hesitate to express her feelings for a good friend ? “Because I have already seeing someone,who I plan to marry in 2 years time. He is a gentleman and would not like me getting dragged into defaming controversies.  I am happy to have found someone so special like him, but cannot reveal to you his identity. I just feel our nation needs to let go, this obsession with cricket and look forward to so many other games out there.”
